It all started in Athens back in the year 1998, when a group of friends (musicians + sound engineers), experimenting with various sounds and musical styles formed Atiko Minus Project. Two years later and after many gigs as a live band in Greece the focus shifted towards the mastering of studio production processes. A.M.P. finds its way through the sounds of conscious Roots Reggae and Dub music and lands in the U.K. The musical message coming out loud and thunderous from Sound Systems like Jah Shaka, Aba-Shanti-I and Iration Steppas planted the seed.
In 2006 A.M.P. Outernational releases its first 7’’ “Green” in the UK and gets repressed 3 times!!
Since then the label A.M.P Outernational has released several “sound killer” tunes such as “iWisa”, “Zulu”, “Pressure Drop” and “Mr. Warmonger” featuring Echo Ranks. Other collaborations include African Simba “The Warriors are Moving” 10” - “Cultural Revolution” 10”, Radical G “Ten Thousand Soldiers” 10” (THC Records), Their “Dr Who” dubplate is a staple in Iration Steppas dubplates box for years now!
A.M.P, returned in Athens, keeping a strong connection with the UK scene through I-Mitri (Counteraction), working on new releases and performing live. “They have been blasting out a terrifically authentic sound rooted in proper Dub Sound system culture, driven by propulsive 4/4 steppers rhythms rub-a-dubbed to perfection and designed to hit strong and heavy when deployed on a rig with bins big enough to carry that bass properly” (Boomkat review, 2007)
During the summer of 2007 they built their own hand-crafted, bass-heavy soundsystem and embarked on a mission to effectively deliver the message of Reggae music to the Greek public. The beginning of autumn (same year) and along with selectors Mashdown45, MistaOperator, AnnaMystic, they presented DUBWISE HI-FI for the first of many legendary nights at AN Club (Athens), and since then they have been setting the standard for reggae and dub selection in Greece the way it was always intended.
